Bahrain Work Visa for Nepali Workers — Complete Guide 2026

Bahrain’s Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) manages all work permits and visas through its Expat Management System (EMS). Bahrain offers a unique flexi-permit option that allows workers to move between employers — a feature not available in most other GCC countries. This guide covers every visa type, the complete document checklist, processing timeline, and fees.

For the full hiring process, see our Bahrain Employer Guide. For verified agency contacts, visit the main contact directory.

Standard Work Visa — Step-by-Step Process

  1. LMRA Work Permit Application (Days 1–7). Employer submits through the EMS portal. Required: valid CR, establishment details, job descriptions, and worker quantities. LMRA reviews and issues a work permit.
  2. Demand Letter Attestation (Days 7–14). Attest through: Bahrain Chamber of Commerce → Ministry of Foreign Affairs → Nepal Embassy (note: Nepal’s embassy in Riyadh covers Bahrain). Our Demand Attestation guide covers the process.
  3. Document Dispatch to Nepal (Days 14–16). Send LMRA work permit, attested demand letter, and power of attorney to the agency in Nepal.
  4. Visa Stamping (Days 16–22). Agency submits documents to the Bahrain embassy/consulate covering Nepal for visa stamping.
  5. Worker Travel (Days 22–26). Worker travels to Bahrain with stamped passport.
  6. Post-Arrival (Days 26–35). Medical examination, CPR card application, fingerprinting.

The Flexi-Permit — Bahrain’s Unique Option

Bahrain’s flexi-permit is unique in the GCC. It allows foreign workers to legally work for multiple employers without being tied to a single sponsor. For employers, this means you can hire workers on flexi-permits for short-term or project-based needs without the full sponsorship commitment. Flexi-permit holders manage their own visa, medical, and CPR card — the employer only pays for the work performed.

Flexi-permit considerations for employers: Workers on flexi-permits are not your sponsored employees. You do not control their visa status. This is ideal for temporary or seasonal work but less suitable for long-term positions where you want retention control.
